Everyday thesedays there are news of someone getting looted. What is the solution to this problem? Today some Gauchan got looted and when the son tried to intervene he got beaten up.

What does the government need to do to reduce this kind of incidents? Or do we need to take things in our own hands and form neighborhood watches so that these opportunistist looters don't get away with someones hard earned money.

Looks like Nepal is going back to vigilante rule.

Law and order are vital for peace, prosperity, and (feeling of) safety. Robbery, looting, kidnapping, and extortion going on in Nepal give the sense of fear and hopelessness in the country. Current or ex police/military, gangsters, and renegade Maobadis are suspected of involvement.

The extortionists are local in most cases. Some are India based. Recently, someone in Malaysia has been calling establishments and individuals in Nepal demanding money.

We should be very concerned about the situation. Most of us have family members in Nepal. Pretty soon, the relatives of Nepalis working in foreign countries could be targeted for extortion. We all are, or will be, vulnerable. We will be affected directly or indirectly.

The government should do everything in its power to catch the culprits and stop it. Individuals should work together to fight on grass root basis. Here, Mel Gibson's "Ransom" movie comes to mind.

Doesn't anyone care about this? This is a problem with us Nepalis. We don't care about these problems until they hit our doorsteps.
